The Lalor Foundation – Post-doctoral Program
- basic post-doctoral research in mammalian reproductive biology as related to the regulation of fertility
- applicant may be a citizen of any country
- applicant should have training and experience of at least equal to the Ph.D. or M.D. level and should not have a faculty appointment (i.e., instructor, lecturer, or higher)
- applicant should not have held the doctoral degree more than two years
- $38,000 for one year; renewal for second year possible

Core Fulbright Scholar Awards - for US applicants to come to Canada
- enable American faculty and professionals to conduct research, teach, or undertake a combination of both activities
- for one semester or full academic year at a university or research centre outside of the US (such as Canada)
- applicants must have received a Ph.D. or equivalent professional/terminal degree
- deadline: American scholars – Aug
EMBO Long-Term Fellowships - for European applicants to come to Canada
- awarded for prolonged visits (12 to 24 months)
- intended for advanced training through research
- applications must involve a laboratory of origin or a receiving institute or applicant’s nationality from one of the member states (see website; mostly European)
- deadline: 15 February; 15 August
EMBO Short-Term Fellowships - for European applicants to come to Canada
- intended for visits of up to 3 months duration
- established to advance collaborations by helping scientists to visit another laboratory with a view to applying a technique not available in the home laboratory
- aimed at collaborative research between member states or between a member state and a non-member state (see website)
- deadline: not fixed, but ideally 3 months before the proposed start date
- up to three years of post-doctoral research training in an outstanding laboratory in another country
- third year of the Long-Term Fellowship can be used either for repatriation to the Fellow's country or in the host laboratory
- fellow must either come from or go to a member country (such as Canada)
- deadline: Sept
- European researchers train and acquire new knowledge in a third country, high-level research organization (1-2 years)
- subsequently, these researchers return to an organisation in a Member State or Associated country (1 year)
- researchers must be nationals of a Member State or Associated country
- support for up to 3 years

Internal Funding
Translational Breast Cancer Research Studentships and Fellowships (through London Regional Cancer Program)
- to encourage and support trainees who are carrying out translational breast cancer research
- applicants may be graduate students or post-doctoral researchers
- trainees must be working under the supervision of any UWO faculty member who is actively engaged in breast cancer research
- proposals should have a strong focus on translational breast cancer research
Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation - Post-doctoral Fellowship Program (through Western)
- recruits outstanding young scientists to spend two years as post-doctoral researchers in Ontario research institutions
- awardees are selected and appointed by each institution to conduct research activities at the institution
- applicants must have completed or received either a PhD in any discipline or a health professional degree no more than two years before the application deadline or be expected to complete their PhD or health professional degree no later than six months after taking up the award
- four fellowships available at Western
- amount per award: $50,000/year for two years ($25,000 will be provided from the Ministry of Research and Innovation and $25,000 will be provided by Western)
- applicants apply through Western
- Western's deadline: May
Petro-Canada Young Innovator Awards (specific to Robarts)
- for full-time faculty (with an eligible research appointment) and post-doctoral scholars, who work in a laboratory at Robarts Research Institute
- priority given to research areas relevant to interests of Petro-Canada (but other research areas will be considered)
- award is $3500
- deadline: Feb
