Welcome to The UWO MALDI Mass Spectrometry Facility

Located on the third floor of the Medical Sciences Building, the UWO MALDI MS Facility houses three MALDI mass spectrometers and provides walk-up to technician-operated access to all users in the community.

About

The UWO MALDI MS Facility is established in 2007 to complement other core facilities within the London Regional Proteomics Centre, including the Biological Mass Spectrometry Facility (BMSL) and the Functional Proteomics Facility.

MALDI mass spectrometers are particularly suited for high sample-throughput protein identification of pre-separated or purified samples, such as those obtained from 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis.

The sample preparation for high throughput MALDI MS analyses is supported by the robotic instrumentation in the Functional Proteomics Facility. The two facilities will operate closely to ensure complete sample compatibility.

Funding

Initial instrument acquisition funded by CFI and UWO (Academic Development Fund).

Maintenance is supported by the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry.
