Why These Charges?

These particular prices represent the cost of maintaining the equipment, such as filaments, replacement parts, and service contracts.

FEE SCHEDULE

Generator Charges

  • There will be an hourly charge of $3 for use of the X-ray generator.
  • There will be a minimum charge of $72 for use of the X-ray generator, so as soon as you turn the generator on, you will be paying for a minimum of 24 hours of usage.
**This policy is to discourage inappropriate use of the generator.
  • Please indicate if the generator was on or off at the start of your run in the appropriate column in the log sheet.
  • Each hour that the generator is on will be charged, regardless of the power consumed
  • If you want to leave the generator on but not collect data, please power down to 20kV and 10mA as this will lower the power consumed from 5 kW to 0.2 kW.
  • Consumables Charges

The following fees encompass both the plates and the additional expenses incurred, such as pipette tips, gloves, reagents, filters and chemicals, since each item has its own additional expenses. Some examples: the 24-well plates require in-house chemicals, the 96-well plates require sealing tapes and the DWblocks require 96 tips.

    • 96-well sitting drop, vapour diffustion plate, with 3 reaction wells: $20
    • 96-well sitting drop plate PLUS crystallization screen: $44
    • 24-well sitting drop plate: $10
    • 24-well hanging drop, screw-cap top with 6 reaction wells: $30
    • Individual Drop Guard Well: $3
    • Fee-for-service, Facility Manager time: $30/hour

    The Big Debate

    Crystallographers:
    Funny, or Not So Funny?

    You be the judge:
